Le Grand Macabre opera has a libretto which was based on a play by Michel de Ghelderode, a Belgian author, and its original was German. Nekrotzar threatens him and also tells him that he will destroy the world. In the second scene Astradamor is beaten by his sadistic wife Mescalina.
