Abba Songs

Abba songs were extremely well-loved when the legendary Swedish pop group still performed. Having produced numerous well-known European smash hits in their illustrious career, few people know ABBA first made a name for themselves as the cabaret act “Festfolk” with the 1970 hit record “Hej, Gamle Man” (“Hi, Old Man”), written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Andersson used to be in a Beatles-inspired group called The Hep Stars whereas Ulvaeus used to be part of the skiffle group The Hootenanny Singers. They sometimes wrote songs together and eventually brought their wives Frida Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog, who were talented singers in their own right, into the group and this created the winning formula ABBA! Abba songs such as “Mamma Mia”, “Money Money Money” and “Dancing Queen” are now etched on the mind of everyone born in the 20th century and Abba lyrics are lyrics everyone knows by heart more or less. Tickets for Abba concerts couldn’t be supplied fast enough to meet demand and eventually the group disbanded due to internal pressures. While Abba tickets are sadly no longer available, we do offer tickets for acts inspired by the supergroup from Sweden here at Worldticketshop.com - Your Ticket to Fun!

Abba Tour

Unfortunately, a new Abba tour is highly unlikely but there are currently countless touring acts knocking about who are influenced by classic Abba songs such as “The Winner Takes It All”, “SOS SOS”, “Knowing Me Knowing You” or “Waterloo”. The latter song literally caused Abba’s breakthrough, of course, when it won them the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest! It was to become a definite live favourite later on in their career and can never be forgotten because this rocky, jazz-influenced Abba song changed the somewhat stale tradition of Eurovision song contest ballads! Their incredible, unprecedented success in the seventies reached fever-pitch all over the world and it seemed the group could do no wrong what with worldwide sales of Abba concert tickets literally going through the roof! However, the singing group did break up in 1982 as did the marriages of the members unfortunately. On a more optimistic note, Abba lyrics and Abba songs now live on in the jukebox musical “Mamma Mia” which has been running since 1999! Abba concert tickets may no longer be available but tickets for this exhilarating Abba musical as well as numerous Abba-inspired acts are available here at Worldticketshop.com - Your Ticket to Fun!
